Explore The Coral Reefs of Kenya

Diving General Information

The coastal reefs of Kenya are part of the second longest barrier reef in the world, stretching along the East African coast from Somalia to northern Mozambique.

Since December 2021 we explored 12 km of reef and we were more than surprised by the quality of the dive sites and the conditions of the corals. Most areas are 100% intact and we have no signs of bleaching. The diversity of the corals is fantastic and the life in the reef complete. We found cleaning stations with lots of marine life including pelagic fish.
At coconut divers we welcome beginners and experienced divers. We separate the groups according to the dive levels during our trips.
You can experience a try dive with us if you are non diver,
You can learn scuba diving with us
You can enjoy advanced diving with us
You can participate in our Turtle Project
Turtles are seen in most of the dive sites and we established the photo IF project where we ask all our clients to assist. We need head shots from both sides of the animal for our data banks and the location and date when seen. All or clients can participate in this.
Coming from scientific diving we decided to open up for the diving industry and share our dive sites and knowledge. This is a tool to create more awareness and also to gain funds to proceed with our science and conservation project for sea turtles.
If ghost nets appear we arrange reef cleanings where experienced divers may participate.

How does our normal dive day look like

Normally we start early and finish before noon. So you can plan other activities or team up with the family. At Tiwi Beach we depend on the tides and the wind. Sometimes you find the reef in front of the hotel completely dry. So we always try to catch a departure time that allows us to leave by boat. Sometimes we have to park in deep water which means we need carry our dive equipment along the beach, however our team will arrange the transport of the equipment for you.
